A2 - Wayward Stage
Appropriate for the Elementary level student
Students entering this stage should be able to understand and use simple expressions and phrases in Italian to satisfy their basic needs. They have limited knowledge of grammatical structures and can communicate using the Present Tense. They can introduce themselves and others, can ask and answer questions about personal details, such as where they live, people they know and things they have. They have enough vocabulary to ‘survive’ in predictable situations. They can interact in a simple way provided the other speaker is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help formulate what is being communicated.
Students that would most benefit at the ‘Elementary’ level would have already been exposed to, and should be able to utilize the elements of the Italian language that are listed in the Grammatical and Communicative Goals at the ‘Beginner’ level.
Students should have been exposed to at least 90-100 guided teaching hours before entering this stage.
